How Long Does a Windshield Replacement Take?

Updated July 14, 2026

Short answer: Most windshield replacements take 60 to 90 minutes. If your vehicle requires ADAS calibration afterward, which most newer vehicles do, add extra time for that step. Repairs are much faster — usually under 30 minutes.

What happens during the appointment

  1. The damaged windshield is carefully removed, along with the old urethane adhesive.
  2. The frame is cleaned and prepped for a proper seal.
  3. The new windshield is set in place with fresh adhesive.
  4. If your vehicle has a forward-facing camera, ADAS calibration is performed — static, dynamic, or both, depending on your vehicle. Learn more about ADAS calibration →
  5. Your technician confirms the safe drive-away time before you leave.

Why the time can vary

The glass-setting part of the job is fairly consistent, but total appointment time depends on your specific vehicle, whether calibration is required, and glass availability. Some vehicles need dealer-specific glass that takes longer to source; most common models we can source and install the same day.

When it's safe to drive afterward

The adhesive that bonds your windshield needs time to cure before it can safely handle the stresses of driving, airbag deployment, and everyday bumps. That cure time depends on the specific adhesive product used and the weather conditions on the day of your appointment — your technician will give you the exact safe drive-away time for your appointment. Follow that guidance rather than a general estimate.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a windshield replacement take?

Typically 60 to 90 minutes for the installation itself. If your vehicle also requires ADAS calibration, plan for additional time on top of that, since calibration is a separate step performed after the glass is set.

How long until it's safe to drive after a windshield replacement?

This depends on the adhesive used and weather conditions at the time of installation. Your technician will tell you the specific safe drive-away time for your appointment before you leave — follow that guidance rather than a general rule of thumb.

Can I get my windshield replaced the same day I call?

Often, yes, depending on glass availability for your specific vehicle and our schedule that day. Request a quote and we'll let you know the soonest available appointment.

Does mobile replacement take longer than an in-shop appointment?

The installation time itself is similar. Mobile service just brings the appointment to your home or workplace instead of you driving to us, with no call-out fee.
